My first blog

Hi,

Well this is my first blog post, I'm Sam, a PhD research student at the University of East Anglia. I work on the geochemistry of carbonate fossils for paleoclimate reconstructions of the Mediterranean. This basically means I get to go to lots of nice, warm places around the Med. find rocks on the beach and then fire lasers at them to see what they're made of. This is actually as much fun as it sounds.

This blog will be a place for me to talk about what I've been doing with science and any other interesting things I find which may or may not be relevant. I'll probably also be doing a lot of moaning about broken machinery and things going terribly terribly wrong.

Thanks for reading,
Sam
